About Us

We founded Lazy M Suris in 1996. We have a herd of two dozen suris, white and colored, including four black animals from three lines. Our animals have been bred for fleece with excellent luster and a nice handle, strong but graceful conformation, and good mothering behavior with good milk production. We intentionally maintain a variety of fleece types.

We both come from science backgrounds and have done research on the relationship between fiber scale dimensions and fleece quality (see the upcoming issue of Purely Suri). We have many years of experience in fiber arts: we learned to spin on alpaca over thirty years ago! We continue to search for the suri fleece endproducts which will do justice to the glorious luster and drape of the suri fleece on the animal.

Our happy, healthy alpacas come from many different lineages. Our suri studs available for outside breeding include two blacks, one maroon, and one light fawn/pale rose grey fancy.  Contact us to find out the ways you can benefit from our superior herd sires and their wonderful fiber.
